Team building through art is a surprisingly powerful tool. As adults, in a busy analytical and task driven environment, we can forget how to create, explore, and take risks, creatively. When you put a group of familiar people in the same room together with some paint and brushes and ask them to be creative, they often feel restricted. Judged by their peers, maybe, or restricted by a faint voice in the back of their minds telling them not to colour outside of the lines. Once we begin to break-down these boundaries, we relax, and we allow mistakes and risks to be part of the journey. We invent, stretch, and step outside of our comfort zone. Doing this with your colleagues allows you to approach the same task from many different points of view regardless of your existing daily role within the structure of the company. It allows for conversation and observations you might not normally have in the workplace. Once you let go of your inhibitions to just give it a good go, an art class becomes fun, and this opportunity to spend time together in a fun and social atmosphere helps build better workplace connections.
EXAMPLE: ELSTON HOUSE FINANCIAL PLANNING, BRISBANE CITY Elston house asked us to come to their offices on a Friday afternoon and run a class for their social club. The boys got involved too, and everyone had lots of fun!
This is what they had to say: ★★★★★ I first went to a Paint & Sip networking event hosted by Jaie. It was such great fun that I asked if Jaie could come and host a corporate social event at our office. All the team members had such a good time and raved that it was one of the best social activities we've done. Even the guys! Jaie walks you through different stages of the painting whilst you have fun sipping and laughing. I would definitely recommend Jaie and The Blank Canvas Co. -Natalie Lackner, Elston House Financial Planning, Brisbane, 2019
2. WE CATER FOR SMALL GROUPS
EXAMPLE: NATALIE'S 23RD BIRTHDAY
Nat invited eight of her friends to paint at one of our partner venues, Westport & Lee Café, in Paddington, and organised to have a treat table for the occasion. Natalie chose her painting by sending through inspiration she liked.
This is what Nat had to say: "Jaie was absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to help me plan my birthday. All my friends had a great time and we would definitely recommend The Blank Canvas Co. to everyone ."
Ishant surprised his wife, Neha, for her birthday with a room up Clear Mountains and organised a private couples painting experience, with a customised painting that he had planned and designed with us.
This is Ishant's review: I worked with Blank Canvas to plan a surprise private painting session for my wife’s birthday and must say it was an exceptional experience. To begin with, Jaie designed a customised painting based on the theme I wanted. Then on the day of the event she turned up with all equipment at the venue, exactly as planned. It wasn’t until this time that Neha (my wife) got to know we were going to paint together in a scenic setting of Clear Mountains. It was a great session and we had lots of fun. Jaie is a great teacher, an amazing painter and is highly personable. We literally lost track of time amongst all the enjoyment but Jaie stayed longer than planned, to make sure we have our paintings complete. Both Neha and I were so impressed by her desire to ensure we had a great overall experience. It was such an awesome afternoon. We would highly recommend Blank Canvas to anyone looking for similar bespoke experiences in and around Brisbane. Thanks Jaie for making our special day much more memorable. Best wishes.
